Police and Rakhines loot and rape; 3 killed and more than ‎‎200 arrested

Rohingya News Agency‏ ‏‎–(RB):‎ A group of police and Rakhines looted the properties belonging to Rohingyas and raped a woman in ‎Duchiradan (Kiladong) village in Southern Maungdaw township of Arakan state. A police and two ‎Rohingyas were killed and more than 200 innocent Rohingyas have been arrested. ‎

On the night of January 13, 2014 at about 11 pm, police sergeant Aung Kyaw Thein with three police, ‎village administrator Aung Zan Phyu and five Rakhines entered into the Eastern Duchiradan village in ‎the Southern Maungdaw township. They looted properties belonging to Rohingyas. At this time, they ‎raped a Rohingya woman. As the victims cried out for help, the Rohingya villagers gathered and ‎fought with police and the group of Rakhines. Police open fired at the villagers. Amongst the dead ‎was the woman who was raped and one Rohingya man. Police sergeant Aung Kyaw Thein was also ‎killed during the violence. ‎

Four Rohingya women and three Rohingya men were arrested late at night as more than 500 military, ‎police and Hlun Htaine surrounded Duchiradan, Gawdusara and 3 other adjacent villages in the ‎morning. They arrested more than 200 innocent Rohingyas including children, women, men and the ‎elderly. They fully loaded three trucks of prisoners.‎

The police and Rakhine group took the corpses of the Rohingya woman and man to the Rakhine ‎village and have yet to return them. While the military, police and Hlun Htaine surrounding the ‎Rohingya villages, thousand of Rakhines entered into the villages and looted the properties and cattle ‎belonging to Rohingyas.‎
