OIC : cut ties with those who recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital

Rohingya News Agency‏ – ‏‎(OIC):‎ At the upcoming Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will invite the Member States to sever diplomatic relations with any state that recognizes Israel's decision to annex Jerusalem or to move their embassies to Jerusalem.

This recommendation made by the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) at the OIC Headquarters is among the resolutions to be discussed at the 40th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers next month, 9-11 December 2013, in Conakry, Guinea.
During the press conference he held on 6 November 2013, the OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu highlighted this issue and pointed out that a special session on Jerusalem will be held on the sidelines of ministerial conference. The aim of this special session, which will be attended by the foreign ministers of the Member States and legal experts, is to develop a vision on how the organization can act at various levels, including the legal and in international forums, to curb Israeli violations in Jerusalem. Furthermore, there is also a recommendation to coordinate Islamic efforts at the Human Rights Council in order to thwart Israel's effort to delete the seventh item of the agenda of the Council by which it examines the situation of human rights in Palestine and other Arab territories occupied by Israel.

The CFM will address other issues on its agenda including the situation in Somalia, Mali, Yemen, Libya, Sudan and Afghanistan. The Secretary General was asked about Syria and he said that some Member States proposed new ideas and resolutions. The final resolutions will reflect the position of OIC, which is to end the violence, start negotiations and for OIC to be involved in Geneva II, and providing humanitarian assistance especially to refugees in neighboring countries. He called on the Member
States to think of reaching a solution within the OIC because the crisis
has reached a dead-end and the dispute between the influential powers
is continuing.

Finally, regarding the situation in Tunisia, Ihsanoglu made an appeal to all parties to work towards the success of the democratic path and bypass personal and party interests for the high interest of their country.

He stressed that the success of the Tunisian experience is not only important for Tunisia but for all democratic efforts in the Arab world, and if it fails in Tunisia, it will have negative repercussions on the others.
