Maungdaw authority again block praying in Mosque

Maungdaw authority had ordered to village admin officers and religious leaders not to pray in Mosque at Maungdaw Township administration office monthly meeting on October 31, said Idiris, an admin officer who join the meeting.
U Hla Myint, the Township administration officer and U Khin Maung Lwin , the District admiration- had ordered to Village admin officers and religion leaders not to pray in Mosque together no more than four people at a time after calling prayer and left the mosque immediately    on monthly meeting of Maungdaw Township administration office  on  October 31, Idiris said.

The Maungdaw authority especially imposed the order to villages which are near Maungdaw town – Myoma Kayoundan, MaungNi, Shwezar and Latha villages, Idiris more added.

The authority imposed the order – not allowing to pray inside the Mosque and running all the religious institutions had closed – since 2012 after clashed between Rakhine and Rohingya. It is only for Rohingya community only, said Halim, a Human Rights Watchdog from Maungdaw.

After 2012, most of the mosques and religious institutions were locked up and shutdown, no one allowed to enter in the building. But, some Rohingya from rural areas had opened the Mosques for praying with understanding of local authority by giving them bribe, Halim more added.

Now, again the authority started again to impose the order which mention no more than five person gather in one place together in the town, but the authority didn’t do anything to Rakhine community while this order was imposed since 2012. It is only for Rohingya community, said Aung Naing, a student from Maungdaw.
